How to Reset WordPress user Password

Learn how to reset the password for phpMyAdmin WordPress is one of the essential things you should know about because for some reason if your site is hacked or something else and can not access your admin panel using the login and you can not reset the password by email, this method can be very useful. We helped three users with the same problem so we decided to make this document.

Every WordPress blog uses a MySQL database can be accessed through their phpMyAdmin, even if you are using cPanel Hosting. Follow these steps to reset the password for WordPress:

Step 1 – Identify the name of your database

It’s always good to know the name of your WordPress database. Sometimes you may be running several installations within the same database, then you need to know exactly where to look to reset your password. The best place to look is the wp-config.php file located in the root directory of WordPress. There you find the name of your database.

Step 2 – Location of the database and edit fields

In your cPanel or admin panel, you must access your MySQL database and then navigate it through phpMyAdmin.

Once in phpMyAdmin, you have to select the correct database on the left side. Find the name you found in your wp-config.php and click on that. A list of tables with a prefix wp_ for the most part.

If you changed your code during installation, then you would be looking for that specific prefix “for ex: wp673_.

You will find the wp_users table, click on it and then click the Browse tab.

Click on the Pencil (Edit) Icon to reset your Password.

Now you will see a field that looks like this:

Change the value of field user_pass. You’ll notice there’s a lot of random characters in the password field. Due to security reasons, WordPress stores passwords as MD5 Hash rather than Plain text.

This means that you will not be able to enter plain text as the password. You should use one of the online generators to generate MD5 password.

Recommended Tool: JavaScript MD5

Just type your password in the MD5 tool and generate results. Copy and paste the code received from the converter to your phpMyAdmin field and click Go to save the changes.

It has now successfully changed your WordPress Password from phpMyAdmin.
